People flying in or out of Southwest Oregon Regional Airport this summer will now have more options when it comes to choosing the time they want to fly. That's because this week, the airport and SkyWest Airlines announced they are adding two more flights to the schedule, one northbound to Portland and one southbound to San Francisco, starting June 1. The airport made the announcement on Thursday.

The Yellowstone Regional Airport will be able to offer travelers additional flight options this summer with additional service offered by SkyWest/Delta Connection and United Express. SkyWest/Delta Connection will offer three daily departures to Salt Lake City. All flights will be operated with a 30-passenger Embraer Brasilia aircraft. In addition, United Express will offer two daily departures to Denver.

SkyWest's Mini Indy, hosted by the City of St. George and Dixie State College, brings local, national and international businesses together for a three-day charity event of fun and fundraising. More than 30 teams, each traveling an average of 1,400 miles to participate, raced Indy-style go-carts at Dixie State College Saturday. This year marked a decade of charity for Mini Indy and the first race ever in a hail storm.

The Klamath Falls Airport has applied for two state grants, one that would guarantee northbound service from SkyWest for two years and one that would provide funding for an aviation mechanics program. In conjunction with Coos Bay/North Bend and Salem, Klamath Falls applied for $1.12 million in Connect Oregon III funds and offered a $280,000 local match to purchase upgraded connectivity software for SkyWest. The total project is estimated to cost $4.29 million.

Companies from around the word gathered in SkyWest's home town to golf, connect and compete for championship trophies – all in the name of charity. Though the weather forced a finish prior to the final checkered flag, SkyWest Airlines is pleased to announce the results of its 2010 Mini Indy Competition.

Australian regional carrier Skywest Airlines has clinched a contract with iron ore company Citic Pacific Mining Management to supply a scheduled shuttle service for Citic employees between Perth and Karratha in Western Australia using an Airbus A320 and a Fokker 100. The deal - valued at more than A$10 million ($9.1 million) - is for an initial period of a year with an option to extend. Skywest says it will sell around 10% of the seats on this service to "regular travelling members of the public flying

After raising fares in the face of declining passenger numbers, SkyWest is cancelling its flight from Oxnard to LAX starting in June. The 20-minute connection to one of the nation's largest airports has been a mainstay for Ventura County business and government passengers looking to cut down time and hassle getting to Los Angeles.
